OCCURRENCE AND INTERPRETATION OF MODAL VERBS PODER AND DEVER IN PORTUGUESE LEGAL LANGUAGE
In this article, we will try to reflect on how modal verbs poder and dever behave when used in juridical texts. We will focus specifically on its frequency in epistemic, deontic or diffuse usage, as well as on the relevance of context to decode and properly interpret the meaning of these verbs in a given sentence.
